About Yong In University 

The period of creation: 1953-1970

Yong In University began as a 2-year college. The Korea Judo College was founded in Sogong-dong in 1953. In 1956, Korea Judo College transformed into a 4-year college with the establishment of the Dae-Myung School. We then moved to Pungnap-dong in 1970.

The period of restoration: 1971-1987

The university was approved as a 4-year college and began building its academic career in 1971. Starting with the Department of Judo, other related physical education departments were gradually established. These laid a foundation for a mecca of sports research. In 1985, the campus moved to Yong In and we began the development stage.

The period of development: 1988-1993

The university renamed itself The Korea Sports Science College after being accredited as a 4-year college in 1988. In 1993, the university finally became Yong In University, a year after being upgraded from a college to a university. The School Board also changed its name to The Dan-Ho School. During this period, several departments, including the Department of Environmental Health and the Graduate School, were established.

The period of transition: 1994-2002

In 1994, with the new president Kim, Jung-Haeng the university broadened its fields of study, founding several new departments. There were 5 colleges and 7 graduate schools established in this period and the university improved the quality and depth of all its studies. The 5 colleges were the College of Marital Arts, the College of Sports Science, the College of Arts, the College of Business, and the College of Natural Science.

The period of prosperity: 2003-present

Yong In University has developed rapidly for a half century and now seeks a new paradigm. The university intends to foster experts and professionals. They will lead the world of digital culture and new technology based on progressive international relations and the digital environment in education. The alumni of Yong In University will serve the country with a vision of the 21st century.
